Buffalo Wild Wings® recently awarded its first-ever scholarships at the Hospitality Minnesota Education Foundation (HMEF) Scholarship Luncheon, which honors students pursuing education in the hospitality industry. The recipients of the Buffalo Wild Wings Founders Scholarships are Kiah Fast from Truman, Minn., and Joshua Walbolt from Elk River, Minn.
Joshua Walbolt is a graduating senior from Elk River High School. He will be attending the Culinary Institute of America in New York this fall to pursue his passion for culinary arts. Kiah Fast, a home-schooled senior, has already completed her Associate in Arts degree at Minnesota West Community College in Worthington. She also runs a small cheesecake business and will be attending Southwest Minnesota State University in the fall.
Mary Twinem, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Buffalo Wild Wings, expressed their delight in recognizing these outstanding students. Buffalo Wild Wings is eager to support and nurture talented individuals like Kiah and Joshua in their careers within the restaurant and hospitality industry.
The Buffalo Wild Wings scholarships were established to honor the memory and dedication of the company’s founders and leaders, Jim Disbrow and Ken Dahlberg. Both of these men were deeply passionate about the restaurant industry and worked to create career opportunities for others.
The Hospitality Minnesota Education Foundation manages educational programs that promote the hospitality industry to high school students. It provides scholarships for students who are graduating from these programs and pursuing careers in the restaurant industry or lodging management. HMEF aims to showcase the abundant career opportunities within the hospitality sector and emphasize its significant contribution to Minnesota’s economy.
