BOTTLEFISH MAKES A SPLASH IN LOS ANGELES
Restaurant Pioneers Bring Elevated yet Approachable New Seafood Concept to Brentwood Gardens
Located at Los Angeles’ iconic Brentwood Gardens, Bottlefish is a contemporary neighborhood restaurant that celebrates responsibly sourced seafood, California’s bountiful produce and exceptional wine. Open daily for lunch and dinner, Bottlefish is the product of restaurant pioneers Rick Rosenfield and Larry Flax, best known as founders of California Pizza Kitchen (CPK). Bottlefish offers an innovative yet familiar dining experience with simply prepared fish and shellfish, signature seafood and non-seafood specialties, seasonally inspired small plates, an extensive wine selection, and a full bar with premium spirits and handcrafted cocktails.
With more than 25 years of experience leading one of the world’s most recognizable restaurant brands, the lawyers-turned-entrepreneurs have begun the next chapter of their culinary story. “We developed Bottlefish because we wanted to share our passion for California’s abundance of fresh, local ingredients and realized a void of seafood-centric restaurants in West Los Angeles,” Flax and Rosenfield explain. “Our vision is to offer an elevated dining experience in a polished, exciting environment with high quality, responsibly sourced seafood while remaining an approachable and comfortable neighborhood restaurant.”
The seafood-centric menu offers a seasonal selection of reliably sourced seafood and shellfish alongside fresh, innovative salads and locally grown vegetables. Diners may order à la carte from the raw bar or opt for a seafood platter featuring an assortment of oysters, shellfish, scallops, ceviche & lobster. Featured in the “Small Bites” section are shareable plates such as Smoked Trout Dip with pickled red onion, chives & house-made “everything” crackers, Black Cod Meatballs with slightly spicy tomato sauce, arugula, and Smoked BBQ Oysters. The menu’s “Greens & Sandwiches” section includes standouts like the Sesame Crusted Tuna Salad with sashimi grade tuna, Tuscan kale, fresh herbs, avocado, tossed in a toasted almond dressing, and a Lobster Roll with warm Maine Lobster, tossed in tarragon butter and chives served with a side of house-made remoulade sauce. Signature large plates include Salt Spring Island Mussels with white wine, light cream, shallots, herbs, served with grilled country bread, and Whitefish Milanese with arugula & shaved parmigiana reggiano. The menu’s “Simply Prepared” section offers guests a grilled or seared seafood option with a choice of salsa rojo, Sicilian herb sauce or lemon caper butter. Decadent dessert options include a Warm Apple Butter Cake with caramel braised apples featuring Sweet Rose Creamery vanilla ice cream.
Bottlefish features an extensive beverage program with a full bar consisting of handcrafted cocktails, utilizing fresh ingredients prepared in-house daily. Additionally, the restaurant boasts a curated selection of craft beers and a rotating seasonal draft cider. Adjacent to the bar, a celebrated and fairly priced wine selection is artfully on view in a floor-to-ceiling, 450-bottle display.
The floorplan is comprised of three interconnected spaces: A 36-seat covered, heated patio, an 88-seat main dining room and a lively, 16-seat bar area overlooking the entire restaurant. Visible from all vantage points is a floor-to-ceiling wine display, glass-enclosed exhibition kitchen and prominent raw bar, showcasing the freshness of cuisine. Light woods, stone accents and neutral textiles are complemented by industrial steel to give the space a comfortable yet upscale ambiance, while the wood-planked ceiling and shimmering, white scaled wall behind the bar add visual texture and subtle nautical charm.
Bottlefish is located at 11677 San Vicente Blvd, Suite 200 in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Hours of operation are 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. Sunday – Thursday and 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday – Saturday.
