On Thursday, November 7, Bonefish Grill held a Groundbreaking Ceremony to kick off construction on its 200th location, set to open in spring 2014 in The Woodlands.
Not only was the brand celebrating a landmark in its history, but it was also debuting the new interior and exterior design that will continue through to all future restaurants. Throughout the restaurant, the new design scheme blends warm and earthy color tones, golden hardwood accents, rich textures, wall coverings and wood and metallic flooring with natural materials.
Though the restaurant design is changing, Bonefish Grill stays true with its menu, full of favorites including the indulgent Bang Bang Shrimp created with a house made Asian-inspired sauce with a bit of kick, PEI Mussels Josephine, Chilean Sea Bass, and Lily’s Chicken.
The 200th Bonefish Grill is located in The Woodlands, a master planned suburb well known for its variety of restaurants, shopping, events and entertainment venues. The restaurant is next to The Woodlands Mall, a regional lifestyle shopping mall featuring over 160 stores and retail outlets under one roof, serving residents throughout northern Houston, Harris and Montgomery County.
As the “Fresh Fish Experts,” award-winning Bonefish Grill highlights market-fresh fish and wood-grilled specialties. The restaurant delivers a fun, relaxed, casual experience marked with excellent consistency in food, service, ambiance and value. Knowledgeable and attentive Bonefish Grill Anglers (the service staff) provide exceptional “chef’s coat service.” Seasonal menus and specials using local purveyors as well as globally sourced fish resources feature traditional and unique varieties of fish and seafood and numerous non-seafood choices.
The concept was founded in 2000 in St. Petersburg, Florida, with a goal to create a restaurant that would take the mystery out of eating fresh, delicious fish from around the world while providing a favorite place for guests to eat, drink, relax and socialize on any given day of the week.
The experience is based on the premise of simplicity and consistency and a strong commitment to excellence at every level within the restaurant. In thirteen years, the award-winning Bonefish Grill family has grown to 190 restaurants in 32 states.
A core menu is offered as well as a featured menu, which includes “indulgent species” dishes made with more unique fish. Signature dishes include Bang Bang Shrimp created with a house made Asian-inspired sauce with a bit of kick, PEI Mussels Josephine, Chilean Sea Bass, and Lily’s Chicken. Just plain fun to eat is hand-held fare such as Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos, the “American Style” Kobe Beef Burger and Sir Will’s Fish & Chips.
Fish is hand cut daily, and the menu features a selection of fine hand-cut steaks, as well as pasta and chicken, in addition to daily specials. All entrees are accompanied by hot crusty bread and a choice of rice, seasonal vegetables or potato selection. Tempting appetizers and house made desserts round out a complete meal. Gluten free, kids and calorie-count menus are available upon request
The big-city bar offers a variety of innovative hand-crafted cocktails, an affordable wine list and a selection of local craft beers. There is also a reserve wine list with about 10 offerings reflecting the local terroir and a proprietary Bonefish Grill wine, Hidden Crush, made by various Central Coast wineries and offered during crush season.
Daily Happy Hour includes specially priced drinks from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. $5 hand-crafted cocktails are available all day, including premium red and white wines and four featured cocktails of the day. A “Kick Ass Bloody Mary” or “KABM,” embellished with a spicy stuffed cherry pepper, is served during Sunday Brunch.
Bonefish Grill is dedicated to responsible fishing practices and the healthy stewardship of the world’s marine resources. It sources its fish from around the world so not to strain any one population. Procurement processes are guided by reports and recommendations of NOAA and by all issued government regulations. In addition, Bonefish Grill regularly consults with conservation groups such as Ocean Trust to ensure the promotion of environmentally sound fishing and aquaculture practices.
With clean, contemporary lines, the restaurant features a spacious and inviting dining room, offering a variety of dining seating experiences. Our renowned tables covered with eco-friendly butcher paper are combined with sharing tables, booths and circular pods. The expansive, open bar with mixed seating options, including the restaurant’s signature communal tables, was designed to spark lively conversation and camaraderie. Large windows look out to the adjacent patio and two 42-inch televisions are located at the back bar for fans to catch their favorite sporting events.
Throughout the restaurant, the modern interior design scheme blends warm and earthy color tones, golden hardwood accents, rich textures, wall coverings and wood and metallic flooring with natural materials. The art enhancements are simple and clean, featuring a large bonefish image made of polished stainless steel scales. Round and rectangular mirrors and wooden ribs that curve around feature booths are designed to complement the featured art.
The dramatic ambient lighting and unique accent fixtures made from hand-blown glass create the restaurant’s unique atmosphere. Between the bar and the dining room is a row of hanging light fixtures inspired by the light filtering through mangrove trees. Striking wine displays are featured throughout the space, lending visual interest.
The signature Bonefish Grill tower identifies the entrance to the restaurant. Entry columns with a metal ribbed texture and vertical sconce lights create a dramatic first impression, welcoming guests. The modern exterior’s neutral palette is accented with bronze metal, wood and stained concrete. A blade canopy, covering the al fresco patio dining and lounge areas, features a dark bronze finish with wood on its underside. Offering a contemporary feel with clean lines, the covered lounge smoothly connects to the patio dining area which will include teak furniture, offering a laid back and comfortable feel. The interior bar has windows that open to the patio, allowing guests to sit at barstools outside and experience the energy from the interior bar. The patio dining area will feature an accent wall with wood planking and a metal “Bonefish.” Adding warmth and coziness, the fireplace is accented with a herringbone pattern metallic tile which is also featured on the interior bar wall.
