Bennigan’s Breaks Ground in Monahans
Legendary chain schedules earth-turning ceremony for Thursday at new site
Monahans is about to get its first casual dining chain restaurant, and it’s not just any restaurant… It’s Bennigan’s, the iconic brand beloved across the globe for its chef-driven American fare and friendly Irish hospitality!
Mayor David Cutbirth, who purchased the rights to bring a Bennigan’s franchise to his hometown, will host a special groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 29. He will be joined by fellow members of the Monahans Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club, as well as Legendary Restaurant Brands Chairman and CEO Paul Mangiamele.
The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the future site of the restaurant at 507 West I-20, adjacent to the Monahans Business Center in the Dutch Hann subdivision. A reception will follow the ceremony.
“Pattie and I love dining out, and we have wonderful memories of eating at the Bennigan’s in Midland,” said Cutbirth, who has served as Monahans’ mayor for 23 years. “I’ve wanted to bring a really nice national chain restaurant to Monahans for years. We need one badly. Once I reached out to Paul, and he said he was willing to work with me, we made our deal and now we’re moving forward!”
The 4,000-square-foot restaurant is tentatively projected to open in April 2017, bringing roughly 75 new jobs to the local economy. Monahans’ Bennigan’s will offer more than a dozen beers on tap, multiple HD TVs and plenty of banquet space. Its menu will feature such signature Bennigan’s favorites as the World Famous Monte Cristo, Oh, Baby™ Back Ribs, the Turkey O’Toole, the Big Irish double-decker hamburger and a wide assortment of handcrafted specialty drinks.
“The Bennigan’s brand has always had a tremendous following in West Texas – and worldwide, for that matter – so I couldn’t be more pleased to bring our outstanding food, drinks and Irish hospitality to the people of Monahans,” said Mangiamele, who has led the renaissance of Bennigan’s since 2011. “David is a wonderful guy and a very successful businessman, and I know he’s looking forward to showing this town just how special the casual dining experience can be!”
Cutbirth, a local entrepreneur who co-owns Quell Petroleum Services, Inc., and several other businesses with his brother, Henry, is eager to share his newest venture with his friends and neighbors in Monahans.
“This is an extremely exciting opportunity for Monahans, Texas, to be home to a Bennigan’s,” said Cutbirth. “Not only will the locals love it, but Bennigan’s will attract a lot of transient business off the interstate that will now stop and spend their money in our town. It’s going to be good for everyone here.”
