Boulevard Hospitality Group (BHG) and Three Star Lane (3SL) today announced their inaugural collaboration, bringing two Tokyo institutions to Los Angeles. Under the direction of Hisashi Udatsu (of Michelin-Starred Udatsu Sushi) and Naotaka Ohashi (of Michelin-Starred TIRPSE), September 2024 will see two distinctive culinary and cocktail-forward destinations open within a historic former Hollywood recording studio on Sunset Boulevard.
With its Tokyo location situated in the unassuming residential neighborhood of Nakameguro, Rokusho Los Angeles will offer an elevated-casual dining experience, combining the expertise of Michelin-starred chefs with the accessibility of authentic Japanese cuisine, within a 34-cover restaurant.
Carrying the understated charm of Tokyo’s Nakameguro neighborhood, Udatsu Sushi’s Hollywood iteration will present an intimate and exclusive omakase experience, with just eight seats. Having launched in February 2019 the restaurant swiftly rose to fame earning its Michelin Star in 2022. Offering tradition and evolution in sushi, the restaurant has become a destination for local and international celebrities, socialites and entrepreneurs.
Rokusho’s [緑青] dining experience will seamlessly blend world-class expertise with innovative Japanese cuisine. The restaurant’s culinary program, curated by 3SL chef partners Hisashi Udatsu and Naotaka Ohashi, draws on their mastery, creating an offering that embodies their culture’s attention to detail, cleanliness, and flavor.
Signature items from Rokusho’s Tokyo location will make their way across the Pacific – think wagyu aburi, kushikatsu, nori snack, and katsu sando. Complemented by items including tonkatsu and sushi, a number of new dishes will be served-up, catering to the preferences of Angeleno’s palates. Led by Executive Chef Carlos Couts – formerly of Sushi by Scratch – Rokusho will also source local ingredients daily, providing an ever-evolving menu.
Directed by Naotaka Ohashi, the beverage program will showcase an extensive curation of tequilas, Japanese gins, whiskeys and natural wines. Japanese mixology will also take center stage alongside delicious sake cocktails and timeless favorites like a mezcal espresso martini and Clase Azul highball.
A standout facet of Rokushu Los Angeles’ DNA will see the restaurant provide a platform showcasing leading Japanese chefs. A revolving calendar of residencies will bring culinary talent across the Pacific to the US for the first time.
