SPECIAL FOCUS AT PROWEIN 2025: FOOD & WINE PAIRING

ProWein will especially focus on the topic  of food & wine pairing this year. Not only the urban gastronomy lounge by #asktoni will be dedicated to this topic. The varied ancillary program will also address the perfect match of wine and food in various events. The International Trade Fair for Wines & Spirits will take place from March 16 – 18, 2025 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

 

The urban gastronomy lounge by #asktoni will again be the central meeting point for restaurateurs in 2025 – from rookies to professionals. This year, everything will revolve around the topic of food & wine pairing. In four different workshops each day, host Toni Askitis (#asktoni) will show in an entertaining way how food and wine can be combined to create unforgettable taste experiences.

 

New live cooking concept

For the first time, the urban gastronomy Lounge will be presented with the support METRO. The new concept was developed together with the international food wholesaler based in Düsseldorf. Dr. Steffen Greubel, CEO METRO AG, and Martin Behle, Chief Horeca Officer, succeeded in recruiting well-known chefs such as Björn Freitag, Alina Meissner-Bebrout and Bobby Bräuer for the cooperation. Each of the three top-notch restaurateurs will for the first time create exciting dishes live on site on different days of ProWein. Toni Askitis, who was named best sommelier of the year 2024 by Rolling Pin, will provide the matching wine. Registration for the individual workshops is not required.

  • How to ProWein: Hands-on tips for beginners and professionals on how to get the best out of ProWein. Food pairing basics: first insights and basics in order to understand the art of food and wine pairing.
  • Music in a glass: A combination of wine enjoyment and music with winemakers, DJs and chefs
  • Wine.Match: live development of matching dishes for selected wines – interactively with the audience.
  • Food & Wine Pairing: the chefs prepare dishes live on site while guests taste the matching wines from winegrowers.

There will also be many inspirations for food & wine pairing in the broader supporting program of ProWein, such as in the seminar series on Wines of Portugal, ICEX/Wine from Spain, wines from Palatinate and ICE/Vini d’Italia. A special highlight on March 16 at 11:30 am will be another top-class food & wine pairing: Curly, known from the podcast Terroir & Adiletten, will go on a culinary voyage of discovery at ProWein! At Pavillon France, Stand 10F120 (Le Forum #BonjourProWein) he will select the perfect wine & food match.
