Removing grease in the kitchen is an unpleasant job at best, as grease sticks to most everything and is difficult to remove. Current degreasers on the market can be harmful to employees and the environment, and if not properly cleaned, excess grease can result in a violation from health inspectors, or worse, lead to a dangerous grease fire. In an effort to provide kitchen managers and chefs with a faster, safer and more effective grease cleaner, 3M recently launched its new Scotch-Brite™ Kitchen Cleaner & Degreaser Wipes with Scotchgard™ Protector.
3M’s new cleaner and degreaser is a pre-moistened disposable wipe that helps efficiently remove grease from non-food-contact and stainless-steel surfaces in commercial kitchens, and has a no-rinse, non-caustic formula that is safe for surfaces and people.
Using proprietary Scotchgard Protector chemistry, the degreaser wipes are the only product on the market that leaves behind a protective layer that can cut future cleaning time by 45 percent after one use. With repeated use, kitchen managers and chefs can complete one of their most challenging tasks of the day in almost half the time.
“Grease removal can be time-consuming and frustrating, but it is an extremely important part of maintaining a clean and safe kitchen,” said Carolina Bautista-Brown, Marketing Development Manager for 3M Commercial Solutions Division. “Our new degreaser wipes provide an easy-to-use solution that not only saves time but is also safer to handle.”
As a single tool, one-step process, the degreaser wipes can be used to spot-clean throughout the day, eliminating the time-consuming need to stop and fill up a bucket. The degreaser wipes also eliminate the need to rinse after application, reducing overall cleaning time by removing a process step.
A safer option on the market, the Scotch-Brite Kitchen Cleaner & Degreaser Wipes with Scotchgard Protector do not contain caustic ingredients. This reduces the risk of irritation to skin and lungs, and eliminates the need for employees to wear gloves, masks, safety glasses or other protective equipment. The degreaser wipes can also be disposed of in the regular kitchen trash. Additionally, the degreaser wipes are NSF A7 Certified and received a HACCP International Certification, meeting food safety and public health protection guidelines.
“The old degreaser we used was very caustic and sometimes our staff would even experience chemical burns,” stated William Goss, Executive Chef at Agave Kitchen in Hudson, Wisc.. “The Scotch-Brite Kitchen Cleaner & Degreaser Wipes with Scotchgard Protector are a safer and easier option, and with the built-in protectants, the cleaning process gets faster with each clean.”
